Meadowlark Botanical Gardens

Are you a nature lover? If so, Meadowlark Botanical Gardens is a must-see for kids and adults alike. Seasonal highlights for spring and summer include magnolias, lenten roses, dogwoods, and daylilies. Look closely, and you can find everything from koi fish to a Great Blue Heron. Admission is free for children under five years old.

Church Street Shops

Maple Avenue is Vienna’s bustling main street, but just a block away is the more tranquil Church Street. Here, you can find a handful of interesting shops, including Just Like New — a trendy consignment store selling designer clothes. Near the bike trail, you’ll find Cocoa Vienna — a sweets shop selling handmade chocolate.

Vienna Farmers Market

Open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. every Saturday, the Vienna Farmers Market is the place to stock up on fresh goods from local vendors. You’ll find more than fruits and veggies, too. Baked goods, dried pasta, dips, free-range meats, rubs, pickles, herbs, and flowers are also sold. Fairtrade coffee and tea are on offer to paying customers.

Location: 120 Cherry St. SE

The Barns at Wolf Trap

If you’re looking to catch a show, The Barns at Wolf Trap hosts a variety of popular artists. The venue is on the small side with a 382-capacity, but that guarantees you a good seat no matter where you sit. More than 80 performances take place between October and May, and the Wolf Trap Opera performs at The Barns during the summer months.

Location: 1635 Trap Rd

Kiln & Co.

Another great spot to visit on Church Street is Kiln & Co. Locally-owned and “Mom-owned,” Kiln & Co. offers fun for the whole family. Paint your own pottery, take a class or workshop, or shop their gifts and decor. Planning on bringing a group? They’ll open after hours so you and the kids can have plenty of space and freedom.

Location: 132 Church St.
