VW 4MOTION^® Components

There are two main parts that make up the VW 4MOTION^® system

• The electronically–controlled multi–plate clutch
• Torsen differential

The electronically–controlled multi–plate clutch (known as the Haldex coupling) controls drive torque, wheel slip, and traction handling conditions, while the Torsen differential turns on or shuts off the power transferred to the VW wheels.
